Watched Pandorum at Baowen's house on Good Friday. After watching it, many questions surfaced in my mind and I decided to pen it down.
Firstly, Pandorum talked about massive population on Earth in 2297 and people have to be relocated to a new planet, Tanis, to create a new settlement via a spaceship, Elysium. Will that happen to us someday in future? Our population has been increasing rapidly and the resources on Earth is starting to become constraint. On the same issue, after reading Pendragon (credits to Tzy), they also talked about Earth in approximately 3000 years from now. The surface of Earth was so badly polluted that people are forced to build the homes underground, and extended towards the core. Will we encounter the same thing too?
Secondly, Tanis is a planet which can support lifeform. As of now, is there other lifeforms that is not on Earth? If there isn't, would there be any lifeform left in the universe in the event the Earth is destroyed? If there is, how are they like? Are they like us? Or are they much more intelligent and more deadly? Will they take over Earth one day?
Last but not least, the show talked about Earth being destroyed a few years after Elysium was launched. Will Earth be destroyed? If yes, under what conditions? Is it inevitable?
And then, my sis added this comment. We are going to die before all these happen anyway. So why bother?
Haiz, I would like to see some points of views regarding this issue so if you are interested, you may leave a tag or blog about this issue too. (:
