Yixuan (the host): In a short moment, 12 teams of 2, each with a pre-existing relationship, will travel around the world for 1 million dollars.
The teams are being brought in to the starting line, the Los Angeles River Basin. This iconic location has been used in many movies such as Terminator 2. And soon, it will be the starting line of The Amazing Race. The 12 teams are:
Yuyan & Lisa, Cousins from Woodlands & Hougang, and also the 2nd runner-up for The Amazing Race 2.
Yuyan: Booboo and I lost at the final leg due to bad luck. Lisa: And if we can reach so far with a bad start, I'm sure we can do it again. BOOBOO! Yuyan: BOOBOO!
Jack & Sam, Brothers from Kovan.
Jack: Sam is very smart but he refuses to listen to others. I hope that in this race, he can realise his weakness and be more receptive of other people's opinion. Sam: I respect my brother but he can be too bossy at times. This race will provide a platform for us to work with each other and improve our relationship.
Waisin & Karhwee, Recently dating couple from Manchester, England.
Karhwee: Being the only team that is not from Singapore gives us a slight advantage as we know England better than others. Waisin: And being old, I think I am wiser than the other participants. Hope that it can propel us to the finish.
Xinfang & Wanjing, Chinese orchestrians and best friends from Bukit Panjang & Yio Chu Kang.
Xinfang: Wanjing and I have only known each other for approximate 2 years plus and we can tell what each other is thinking. Wanjing: I am sure we can work well together to complete challenges faster than the other teams.
Felicia & Youwei, Dating couples from Ang Mo Kio and somewhere in Singapore.
Felicia: I want to win. That's all. Youwei: *some romantic poem* If we win, I will use the prize money and marry my dearest baby.
Shelia & Erwitt, Siblings from Punggol.
Shelia: My brother has gone through alot of hardship in army and i think that his experience can aid us in our quest for the million dollars. Erwitt: My sister is a super mugger and I think that her knowledge will definitely help us in this amazing journey.
Rachel & Baowen, Twins from Hougang & Sembawang.
Baowen: Rae and I are the ultimate pair! Rachel: Ah bao and I are sportsperson in the past and our fighting spirit will definitely bring us to the finish line first! Baowen: Twin & I rocks totally!
Yanzhi & John, Buddies from Yishun & Serangoon Gardens.
John: We are too clever to be defeated by that bunch of losers. Yanzhi: Yes, we will definitely win this thing.
Wahngee & Beehar, Married parents with 3 kids from Kovan.
Wanhgee: We are here to prove that even old uncles and aunties can win this race. Beehar: We can tap on our vast travelling experience to help ourselves.
Zhenyang & Pohchoon, Buddies from Ang Mo Kio & Yishun.
Zhenyang: Pohchoon and I have been super close friends for many years and we will not argue as other teams might.Pohchoon: And also our work effienciency is high and so we can complete tasks quickly.
Timothy & Siying, Secretly dating couple from Serangoon Gardens and Admiralty.
Timothy: When my ex-wife and I start to have cracks in our relationship, I decided to flirt with girls. Until i saw this lovely girl in front of me. And it made me stop and settle down. And i felt that it's the correct time for me to surface this underground relationship. Siying: I hope that Timo and I can make it cross the finish line first so that we can have money to spend!
Priscilla & Jenyun, Fairygodmother & Fairygodchild from Yishun and Ang Mo Kio.
Priscilla: What's your wish, my dear? Jenyun: I want to win the amazing race! Priscilla: Your wish is my command.
Yixuan: Which teams will start to argue due to the immense stress? Which teams will succumb to the fate of elimination? And which team will have the correct combination of brains and brawns to cross the finish line first? All these questions will soon be answered in The Amazing Race.
Leg 1
Yixuan: In a short moment, you will start racing around the world. The race is divided into 12 legs. At the end of each leg, there is a pit stop. 8 of these are elimination points. That means if you are last, you will be eliminated. If you landed last on a non-elimination, you will be spared, but on the next leg, you have to perform an additional task called the Speedbump which the other teams do not have to perform. The additional time spent might also cause you the race. When i give the signal, you will run to your bags and read your first clue. The first team to cross the finish line at the end of 12 legs will win ONE MILLION DOLLARS.

Yixuan: Good luck, travel safe, GO! *teams dash to their bags*
Jack: *rips open clue* Fly to Tokyo, Japan. Yixuan (voice-over)Teams must now fly to Tokyo, Japan. However, to get their flight tickets, teams have to search the wall with a thousand license plates hanging on it for one of only 11 license plates from the Shinagawa District of Tokyo. The last team without a license plate will be eliminated. Sam: Oh shit. An elimination now?
Jenyun: Fairygodmother, I want the license plate to appear now. Priscilla: Let's go find it together!
Felicia: There are so many plates. Which is the correct one? Youwei: *some other romantic poem* With you around my dear, I will definitely find it.
Yixuan: That's incorrect.
Shelia: Look, there's a sign here. Could it be the one we are looking for? Erwitt: I see one over there! Let's try it!
Yixuan: That is correct. *hands over flight ticket*

Xinfang: How did they do it so quickly? Wanjing: I dunno! Let's randomly try license plates.
Yixuan: That's incorrect.
Karhwee: Oh my god. This is killing me. Waisin: Let's pray and it will fall from the sky. Karhwee: I'm not getting eliminated because of this.
Yixuan: That's incorrect.
Siying: Is it this one on the clue? Timothy: I think so. Try it quick!
Yixuan: That is correct. *hands over clue*

Baowen: Ahhhhh! How did they do it? Rachel: Don't give up. We can do it!
Yixuan: Unfortunately, I am out of tickets. Wahngee & Beehar, I'm sorry to tell you that you have been eliminated from the race. Wahngee: This is really a life-changing experience. Too bad I don't have the chance to start it. Beehar: We have given them all a chance to race around the world. How noble of us.

Gameshow host: Welcome to SUSHI ROULETTE! Yixuan (voice-over): A roadblock is a task that only one team member may perform. In this roadblock, that team member have to take part in a Japanese Game Show called Sushi Roulette. The game show host will spin a wheel containing nine sushi rolls and two wasabi bombs. The contestant has to eat whatever that landed in front of them, but they needed to keep playing until they receive a wasabi bomb. Then, they have to finish it in two minutes to receive their next clue. Jack, Pohchoon, Timothy, Karhwee, Erwitt, Rachel, Xinfang, Priscilla, Yuyan, Youwei and Yanzhi will be attempting the roadblock.
Waisin: I can't eat spicy stuff, so Karhwee had to do it. But when I see her gorging down that wasabi bomb, it really ached my heart.
Felicia: I just want to finish this leg first. He better do it quickly.

Waisin: *rips open clue* Make your way to the pitstop. Yixuan (voice-over): Teams have to now use a coloured flag to lead a group of 20 Japanese tourists from the studio audience wearing the same coloured hats through the infamously crowded Shibuya Scramble Crossing to the Pitstop, the Konno Hachimangu Shrine. This peaceful shrine built in the centre of the busy city is the pitstop for this leg of the race. The last team to check in here, may be eliminated. Karhwee: Let's go!
