Previously on The Amazing Race, 9 teams of 2 set out from Fortaleza, Brazil and raced 1930km to the high altitudes of La Paz, Bolivia. Upon landing, all teams found hard to breathe as the air was thin. However, the breathing problems did not affect jack and wahngee as they battled from 7th place to check in first. (yixuan: jack and wahngee, you are team number 1!) felicia and seelek plotted their revenge on siying and zhiyan. and it came true when they were the first to arrive at the U-Turn. (seelek: it's revenge time!) On the other hard, yuyan and lisa faltered badly that their early lead slowly dissipated as they completed the roadblock last. (lisa: we are so dead!) But their worries were shortlived when their fellow alliance members, zhanwei and joel, misread a clue by taking a cab instead of walking. Arriving at the pitstop 3minutes before their penalty expires, the cousins effectively sealed zhanwei and joel's fate as they became the 3rd team eliminated from The Amazing Race. 8 teams remain, who will be eliminated next?
jack and wahngee, who were the first to arrive at 12.33pm, will depart at 12.33am.
jack: *rips open clue* Fly to Auckland, New Zealand. Once there, drive to Gulf Harbour and successfully untie a Gordian knot to receive the next clue from inside.

wahngee: on the last leg, jack managed to impress me by performing so well in the roadblock that we overtook the fore running teams. that's how we came in 1st.

This is the 1st of only 2 Fast Forwards in the entire race. In this Fast Forward, that team will have to go directly to the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere, the Auckland Skytower. Then, using the tower's maintenence ladder, they have to climb from the sky deck to the top and pick up a friend.
lisa: but i am afraid of heights!

pohchoon: that experience was amazing. watching the sunrise at the summit of the hill. and most importantly, to watch it with the person i love the most in this world. that feeling is undescribable.
priscilla: at that moment, i really wished phelps was next to me watching the same thing as me.
pohchoon: roadblock!
A Roadblock is a task where only one member may perform. In this roadblock, that team member have to choose an image of a traditional tattoo seen on Maori warriors. Then, walking among the Maori, that team member will have to find a warrior with the tattoo that matched the one he/she had in hand. If the match was wrong, the warrior will take his/her image, forcing him/her to start again.
priscilla: i will do it! since i am so observant.

Having successfully completed the Fast Forward task, yuyan and lisa may now skip all tasks and make their way to the Pit Stop, Summerhill.

A Detour is a choice between two tasks, each with its pros and cons. In this detour, teams have to choose between two activities done by the locals commonly. The choice, Matter of Time or Matter of Skill.
In Matter of Time, teams have to drive to a kiwi orchard where, using their bare feet, they have to crush enough kiwi fruits to make 12 quart of juice. When they reach their goal, each team member have to drink a glass of the juice to receive their next clue.
In Matter of Skill, teams have to drive to Blokart Heaven, choose two kits and properly assemble a pair of blokarts. Then, teams have to sail the blokarts around the track three times to earn their next clue.
pohchoon: let's do the kiwi one. at least we get to drink kiwi juice.
priscilla: why isn't there a task which requires us to meet phelps.
