Leg 9 Recap

Previously on the Amazing Race, 4 teams of 2 set out from Mumbai, India and travelled 6500km to Osaka, Japan. A bad flight decision threw Zhen Yang and Jezabel squarely at the back of the pack. Good teamwork between friends Celest and Felicia propelled them to the front. After the detour, Timothy and Valerie and Han Wei and Kelvin raced each other to the Pit Stop thinking they were last. However, it was Zhen Yang and Jezabel, who landed in Osaka just after the third team checked in, who reached the pitstop last. However, they were given a second chance as is was the last pre-determined non-elimination leg. 4 teams remain, who will be the final team to be eliminated from the Amazing Race?

Leg 10

Departing the Pit Stop first at 7.02am, Celest and Felicia opened their clue.

celest: Travel by taxi to the Floating Garden at the "building with a hole in it".
felicia: Let's ask around to see what weird building has a hole in it.
celest: Excuse me, may i know where is this place?
passer-by: It's the Umeda Sky Building. The Floating Garden is an observatory located on the roof.
celest: Thank you.
felicia: Let's get going.

*on the taxi*

celest: Let's try not to get into any quarrels and complete this leg smoothly again.
felicia: Let's try not pissing me off.

*at Umeda Sky Building*

felicia: It's closed! Crap!
celest: It says here that it opens at 10.00am. The other teams are going to catch up.

*Timothy and Valerie and Han Wei and Kelvin arrived*

timothy: Let's hope the building opens before Zhen Yang and Jezabel arrives.
valerie: With that Speed Bump, they are going down.

hanwei: This place is majestic.
kelvin: We have to hurry to keep ahead of Zhen Yang and Jezabel.

celest: Let's go! We have to hurry now! Move it!
felicia: OKOK! Stop nagging.

*at Floating Garden*

hanwei: Fly 1600km to Taipei, Taiwan. Once there, take a taxi to Taipei Main Station.
kelvin: We have to go now! The couples might turn up anytime.

felicia: I DIDN'T GET TO EAT ANY SUSHI!
celest: I am very tired now, so stop whining and shut up.
felicia: I WANT MY SUSHI!

timothy: Taipei here we come!
valerie: To the airport first hubby.

zhenyang: So the hole in the building is the Umeda Sky Building?
passer-by: Yes.
jezabel: Ok dear, let's go! We have alot to catch up!

zhenyang: Where is the Floating Garden?
jezabel: Let's walk around to find it.
zhenyang: Alright.

*at airport*

valerie: Can i have 2 tickets to Taipei?
ticket-lady: I have 2 seats left on the 1pm flight landing in Taipei at 2.51pm.
timothy: Let us have it!

*meanwhile*

hanwei: We would like 2 tickets on the 1.00pm flight to Taipei
ticket-lady: Let me help you check.
kelvin: Don't let the other teams get it!

*meanwhile*

celest: Can't you run faster?
felicia: WAIT LA! I AM EATING SUSHI! YOU TELL ME HOW TO EAT AND RUN AT THE SAME TIME? AND I EAT FINISH MUST REST 2 HOURS BEFORE DOING VIGOUROUS EXERCISE SO STOP IT!

ticket-lady: I got you on the flight!
timothy: THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
valerie: This is great.

ticket-lady: I am sorry but it's fully booked now.
hanwei: WHAT?!?!
kelvin: What's the next best flight?
ticket-lady: 1.15pm landing at 3.06pm.
hanwei: Let's have it then.

*at Umeda Sky Building*

zhenyang: This is ridiculous. I think other teams check in already.
jezabel: Could 'Floating' means in the air? Let's try taking the elevator up.

*at Floating Garden*

jezabel: OMG! THERE IT IS!
zhenyang: Fly to Taipei! Time to catch up!

*at airport*

celest: 2 tickets to Taipei please.
ticket-lady: Osaka-Taipei. departing at 1.15pm, landing at 3.06pm.
felicia; Just take it. We wont lose anyway. Zhen Yang and Jezabel have a Speed Bump waiting.

*after a while*

zhenyang: We caught up with them!
jezabel: Yes darling. Go get a flight!
zhenyang: Can i have 2 tickets to Taipei?
ticket-lady: I will put you on the 1.15pm flight landing at 3.06pm.
jezabel: Great!

Timothy and Valerie are on EVA air landing in Taipei at 2.51pm.

Han Wei and Kelvin, Celest and Felicia and Zhen Yang and Jezabel are on China Air landing in Taipei at 3.06pm.

*at Taipei airport*

valerie: Let's hurry!
timothy: Alright!

*at Taipei Main Station*

timothy: There's the clue.
valerie: Travel by high speed rail to the city of Taichung. Then, travel by taxi to the town of Jiji and find Acrobatics Jeep.
timothy: QUICK! THE TRAIN IS DEPARTING SOON!
*1st train departs carrying Timothy and Valerie*

*at Taipei airport*

zhenyang: We have to hurry!
jezabel: TAXI!!!!

hanwei: Don't lose to them!
kelvin: TAXI!!!

felicia: I am tired of running.
celest: *ignoring Felicia yet again* TAXI!!!

*at Taipei Main Station*

zhenyang: We have to travel by train.
jezabel: Crap. The other teams are here already.
*2nd train departs carrying Zhen Yang and Jezabel, Han Wei and Kelvin and Celest and Felicia*

*at Acrobatics Jeep*

timothy: It's a roadblock sweetie.
In this roadblock, one team member have to become a passenger in a car driven by a professional stunt driver, who will maneuver the vehicle onto a giant teeter-totter and then rock back and forth precariously 25 feet above the ground. Then, the team member will switch into an amphibious car, don a pair of goggles and, while holding his/her breath, be driven underwater for 17 seconds. First-come-first-serve.

timothy: We are team number 1.
valerie: I have to do it.
timothy: Damn! I wanted to do it.

*valerie performing the roadblock*

*moments later*

timothy: YOU ARE DONE! LET'S GO!
valerie: That's the Speed Bump! Wish good luck to the couple.
timothy: Take the train back to Taipei and make your way to GK Tea Houseand order and a cup of tea. Only by drinking your tea will your next clue be revealed on the bottom of the cup.
timothy: YES! I LOVE HOT DRINKS!
valerie: Let's get out of here! The other teams are coming!

zhenyang: We are second! ROADBLOCK!
jezabel: This looks scary.
zhenyang: I will do it then. You will have to do the next roadblock.
jezabel: Alright.

hanwei: Shit! We are third.
kelvin: You do it. I can't hold my breath.

felicia: I am not doing anything.
celest: Fine. I will do the roadblock.

*at Taichung Main Station*

timothy: We just made it to catch the 7.16pm train back.
valerie: Wish the other teams good luck. It will be sad to see anyone go at this point of the race.
*1st train departs at 7.16pm with Timothy and Valerie*

*at Acrobatics Jeep*

jezabel: YOU WERE SO SHUAI DARLING!
zhenyang: Speed Bump time.
jezabel: Travel 1.6km to He-Ping and take part in a traditional Chinese ritual that takes place annually during the Lantern Festival. First, put on safety suits to make a harrowing dash through a gauntlet of fireworks which were being aimed right at you. Then, in a local custom in Jiji, be doused with water.

hanwei: Ok my turn!

*at He-Ping*

jezabel: I'm SCARED!!
zhenyang: Nothing will happen to you dear. Just be brave and finish this happily!
jezabel: I really don't wanna do it!
zhenyang: You can do it dear.

*at Acrobatics Jeep*

kelvin: Ok. Let's get back to the train station!

celest: It's my turn!
felicia: *snoring away*
celest: She's hopeless.

*at GK Tea House*

valerie: A cup of tea please.
timothy: Let's clear this quickly.

*at Acrobatics Jeep*

celest: I AM DONE!
felicia: *awakens* Huh? Oh. Let's go then.

*at Taichung Main Station*

hanwei: It's 7.30pm now why can't you sell us the 7.36pm train?
ticket-lady: It's too close to the departure. The computer can't issue the tickets.
kelvin: This is rubbish. Then give us the 7.56pm train.
ticket-lady: Here you go.

*at He-Ping*

jezabel: Alright darling. Let's go.
zhenyang: I will hold your hand to reassure you.
zhenyang and jezabel: *runs past fireworks* AHHHHH!!

*at GK Tea House*

valerie: The tea is here.
timothy: *drinks down in one gulp*
valerie: *looks horrified* It's supposed to be boiling.
timothy: Travel to the Gong Guan Night Market and find a clown to get your next clue.

*at He-Ping*

jezabel: AH! THE WATER IS FREEZING!
zhenyang: I THINK I GOT FROSTBITTEN!
jezabel: Let's head back to the station. Hope the teams are still there.

*at Taichung Main Station*

hanwei: The train is coming and there is no sign of the couples.
kelvin: Let's keep it this way.
celest: We will have at least a 20 min lead over them.
felicia: Who cares? We will definitely win them anyway.

*7.46pm*

zhenyang: Can we have 2 tickets on the 7.56pm train?
ticket-lady: Here you go.
jezabel: I SAW THEM! HOORAY!
zhenyang: GOOD JOB DEAR! *kisses*

felicia: WALAO! THEY CAUGHT UP!
celest: This is bad. This is definitely going to cause tension to flare.
*2nd train departs at 7.56pm with Han Wei and Kelvin, Celest and Felicia and Zhen Yang and Jezabel*

*at Gong Guan Night Market*

valerie: I see the clown!
clown: Here is your next clue.
timothy: Detour. Fire or Earth.
In Fire, make your way to Zhongzheng Park to participate in a mystical Chinese ritual by writing messages of luck, good or bad, on lanterns. Then, burn "spirit money" under the lanterns, filling them with hot air that would lift the lanterns into the sky and carry your messages to the spirits above. Once you have sent 20 sky lanterns into the air, you will receiveyour next clue. In Earth, make their way to Youth Park to participate in a local custom used to reduce stress. You have to take off your shoes and, with your bare feet, walk down a 220-foot path made of jagged stones, turn around and walk back.

valerie: Let's go destress!
timothy: Alright!

timothy: This is painful!
valerie: Grit your teeth and bear the pain!

*at GK Tea House*

celest: 1 cup of tea please.

hanwei: 1 cup of tea.

zhenyang: 1 cup of tea please. Thank you.

valerie: I AM DONE! HUBBY FASTER!
timothy: I am coming! *few more steps later* DONE!
valerie: Good job! Travel to the next Pit Stop, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Plaza. This historical plaza is the 10th and final Pit Stop in the race around the world. The last team to check in, WILL be eliminated.
timothy: LET'S HURRY!

*at GK Tea House*

celest: Finished! Go to Gong Guan Night Market.
felicia: Let's go!

zhenyang: You drink.
jezabel: It's too hot!
zhenyang: Let's drink together slowly.

hanwei: Finally. It's like freaking hot!
kelvin: Gong Guan Night Market. Let's go.

*at Gong Guan Night Market*

celest: DETOUR!
felicia: Let's do the lanterns. We can curse the other teams like that.
celest; But the rocks are faster.
felicia: I WONT DO THE ROCKS!
celest; FINE! YOU DON'T HAVE TO SHOUT AT ME!
felicia: GO HAIL THE CAB!
celest: TAXI! Let's hope this is not the wrong choice.

*at Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Plaza*

*cabs turn in*

*1 team runs happily onto the mat*

Yi Xuan: Timothy and Valerie, you are team number 1. As the winners of this leg of the race, you have won a trip for two from Travelocity to the island of Curacao in the Netherland Antilles.
valerie: Good job hubby!
timothy: It was a tiring leg.
Yi Xuan: I have more good news! You are one of the 3 teams racing for the million dollars!
valerie: YAY!
timothy: THIS IS WONDERFUL!
valerie: We will work doubly hard next leg to win!

*at GK Tea House*

zhenyang: We are so freaking last.
jezabel: Jiayou darling! FINISH THE TEA!
zhenyang: *finishes tea with 1 last gulp*
jezabel: YAY! LET'S GO!

*at Gong Guan Night Market*

hanwei: Let's do the rocks.
kelvin: Alright!

*at Fire detour*

felicia: Hope Timothy and Valerie fall into a drain. Wish Han Wei and Kelvin run into a pole. Hope Zhen Yang and Jezabel get kidnapped by birds.
celest: This is stupid. Why are you writing such dumb stuff?
felicia: Do you want to win?
celest: Fine.

*at Earth detour*

hanwei: This is so easy!
kelvin: It's quite painful you know.
hanwei: Just endure and run.

*at Gong Guan Night Market*

jezabel: The clown is there! He's so cute.
zhenyang: Stop it. I will get jealous ok.
jezabel: Let's do the earth detour?
zhenyang: We will run through the rocks.

*at Earth detour*

hanwei: Quick we are finishing soon!
kelvin: DONE!
hanwei: OMG! THE PITSTOP! RUN!

*at Fire detour*

celest: 1, 2, 3.... Only 9 lanterns.
felicia: 7 more to go. Let's see. Hope Timothy and Valerie get eaten by cockroach. Hope Han Wei and Kelvin become puppets. Hope Zhen Yang and Jezabel get flattened by 100kg of vegetables.

*at Earth detour*

jezabel: This isn't as pain as i thought.
zhenyang: Let's hurry!

*at Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Plaza*

*one team run onto mat*

Yi Xuan: Han Wei and Kelvin, you are team number 2! You will be one of the final 3 teams racing for the one million dollars!
hanwei: This is superb!
kelvin: Stop fighting and working together really worked.
hanwei: We are living examples of how enemies can reconcile with the same goal in mind.

*few minutes later*

*one taxi driving in*

Yi Xuan: Zhen Yang and Jezabel, you are team number 3! You are the last team to be racing for the million dollars!
zhenyang: YES!
jezabel: Our hard work paid off.
zhenyang: 3 hour-deficit plus a Speed Bump! And we managed to clear it all!
jezabel: I love you darling!
zhenyang: I love you too dear. *kisses*

*moments later*

*last taxi coming in*

*Celest and Felicia running to the mat*

Yi Xuan: Celest and Felicia, you are the last team to arrive.
felicia: WHAT?!?! AFTER WE CURSED ALL THE OTHER TEAMS?!?!
celest: Told you to do the other detour.
Yi Xuan: I am sorry to tell you that you have been eliminated from the race.
felicia: It's all your fault!
celest: Excuse me, I have been enduring you the whole of this race.
felicia: So? Am I that hard to endure?
celest: What do you think? I never want to talk to you again anymore!
