Leg 7 Recap

Previously on the Amazing Race, 5 teams of 2 set out from Dubrovnik, Croatia and travelled across the sea to Ancona, Italy. There, teams were made to drive late into the night to the town of Empoli. Along the way, a roadblock coupled with a traffic jam caused Han Wei and Kelvin and Celest and Felicia to drop to the back of the pack. At Empoli, Han Wei and Kelvin scurried for the Fast Forward to keep themselves in the game, coming in first. Strong teamwork between Timothy and Valerie propelled them to another strong finish. On the other hand, Felicia encountered problems when she had fun on the Roadblock instead of finding the word. Things worsen when they bickered at the detour. Zhen Yang and Jezabel faced a car breakdown but still managed to edge out Celest and Felicia at the Pit Stop. However, they were spared elimination when Yi Xuan told them that this is the first of 2 non-elimination legs. 5 teams remain, who will be eliminated next?

Leg 8

Departing the Pit Stop first at 10.12pm, Han Wei and Kelvin opened their clue.

hanwei: Fly 6500km to the city of Mumbai, India, formerly known as Bombay. When you land, take an auto-rickshaw to a newspaper stall and purchase a copy of the Times of India newspaper and search for an advertisement containing the location of your next clue.
kelvin: India~
hanwei: Let's hurry to the airport.

*at airport*

hanwei: What flights can you offer to Mumbai?
ticket-lady: I have seats which arrive at 10.35pm
hanwei: Is it the earliest?
ticket-lady: It is currently.
kelvin: Just take it.

*teams filled into the airport one by one*

timothy: Can i have a flight to Mumbai, India?
ticket-lady: Direct flight landing at 10.35pm
valerie: Let's take it.

pohchoon: 2 tickets to Mumbai on the earliest flight.
ticket-lady: That would be arriving at 10.35pm.
yanzhi: We would like 2 tickets please.

zhenyang: Let's do some research before booking the flights.
jezabel: Ok.

celest: Can i have 2 tickets on the earliest flight to Mumbai.
ticket-lady: I have a flight landing at 10.35pm but it's fully booked. I can give you one which lands at 1am.
felicia: WHAT! We are so dead.
celest: Give me 2 tickets please.
ticket-lady: Here you go.
felicia: This is stupid.
celest: Let's go find a better flight.

zhenyang: I want 2 tickets on the 10.35pm flight into Mumbai.
ticket-lady: It's fully booked. I can book you on the 1am flight instead.
jezabel: So late? Take it first darling.
zhenyang: Ok can i have 2 tickets?
ticket-lady: Here you go.
jezabel: Let's find a better flight.

*at another counter*

celest: Excuse me, i understand that you have a flight arriving at 10.50pm at Mumbai.
ticket-lady: It's currently full but i can put you on the waiting list.
celest: That would be my pleasure.

zhenyang: Excuse me, 2 tickets on the 10.50pm flight to Mumbai.
ticket-lady: I will put you on stand-by.
jezabel: This is so screwed.

Han Wei and Kelvin, Timothy and Valerie and Poh Choon and Yan Zhi are on the flight landing in Mumbai at 10.35pm.

ticket-lady: Celest and Felicia, you are on the flight.
felicia: YES!
celest: This is wonderful.

Celest and Felicia are on the flight landing in Mumbai at 10.50pm.

Zhen Yang and Jezabel are on the flight in Mumbai at 1am.


*at Mumbai*

hanwei: Quick get in the cab!
kelvin: Stop pushing me.

valerie: GOGOGOGO!
timothy: Relax. We are in the cab already.
valerie: GOGOGOGO!
cab-driver: I don't want to fetch crazy passengers.

pohchoon: Let's go.
yanzhi: TAXI!!!

*at the newspaper stall*

hanwei: Crap, the newspaper stall is closed and only opens at 6am.

*teams start to bunch together*

zhenyang: Thank goodness it's not open yet.
jezabel: Totalleh! *kisses*

*6 am*

*teams frantically searching their newspaper for the clue*

jezabel: This is about patience. Relax and we can find it.
zhenyang: I am relaxing. *scans through newspaper* AND I FOUND IT! Travel by auto-rickshaw to Chauhan Tailors.
jezabel: We are first darling!
zhenyang: Good job to us! *kisses*

timothy: This is stupid. How to find such a small clue in this newspapers?
valerie: I look left you look right.
timothy: Yes madam!

hanwei: Is this it?
kelvin: Travel by auto-rickshaw to Chauhan Tailors?
hanwei: That must be it.

felicia: This is ridiculous. I give up.
celest: *ignoring felicia* Clue clue where are you?

pohchoon: I cant find it la.
yanzhi: Go page by page.

*at Chauhan Tailors*

zhenyang: Oh my it's Celest and Felicia's speed bump. Let's hope they can do well in it.
jezabel: Detour! Paste 'Em or Thread 'Em
In Paste 'Em, teams have to make their way to a marked underpass and use the provided supplies to properly paste a 6-panel Bollywood movie poster onto the wall. When the advertisement is complete, they will receive their next clue. The poster panels are large and unwieldy, and if even one panel is out of alignment, teams could have to take them all down and start again. In Thread 'Em, Teams have to make their way to Dardar Flower Market and find a marked flower stall, where they have to create a traditional wedding garland by threading 108 flowers in an alternating pattern. When the judge decrees that the garland had been properly made, teams need to deliver it to a nearby bridegroom and exchange it for their next clue. Threading flowers is delicate work, but teams with deft hands could find themselves moving ahead.

hanwei: Oh! This must be it. I see the Speed Bump for the girls.
kelvin: Let's do the posters.

celest: Chauhan Tailors? This must be it.
felicia: You found it? Great.

pohchoon: This is frustrating.
yanzhi: Let's peep at Timothy and Valerie.

timothy: I can't find it.
valerie: Relax and go page by page.

*at Thread 'Em detour*

jezabel: Ok, you arrange the flowers i thread it. That way we can finish quickly.
zhenyang: Alright. Jiayou dear! *kisses*

*at Paste Em' detour*

hanwei: Put the glue!
kelvin: Damn! I can't reach it.
hanwei: Use the long extended brush!
kelvin: Ugh, this is hard work. And we only managed 1 out of 6 posters.

*at the Speed Bump*

celest: OMG the speed bump is here?
felicia: Make your way to a Yoga Master and successfully perform a series of complex Yoga poses.
celest: Yoga can help us destress. Let's go!

*at Thread 'Em detour*

jezabel: And this goes in here and WALA!
zhenyang: You are superb dear! *kisses*
person: This is excellent. Deliver it to the bridegroom.
zhenyang: Let's go!

*at newspaper stall*

pohchoon: It's just right here. I can't believe how many times we missed it.
yanzhi: Chauhan Tailors? Let's go

timothy: We are left.
valerie: Never give up!
timothy: AHH!! FOUND IT!

*at Yoga Master*

Celest and Felicia twist here and there and here and there.

yoga-master: You have done well. Here is your next clue.
celest: Travel by auto-rickshaw back to Chauhan Tailors

zhenyang: Here you go.
bridegroom: Here's your next clue.
jezabel: Travel to a traffic island known as Kabutar Khana. Caution: U-Turn ahead.
zhenyang: Let's hurry, I dont want to get U-Turned by others.

*at Paste 'Em detour*

hanwei: This is hard!
kelvin: *brushes paste all over*
person: That side is not straight.
hanwei: WHAT?!?!
kelvin: Quick re-do it!

*at Chauhan Tailors*

pohchoon: Let's do the posters.
yanzhi: Anything.

timothy: Let's also do the posters.
valerie: We are strong so we can finish it quickly.

celest: Now we are last. Let's thread flowers.
felicia: Anything.

jezabel: ROADBLOCK!
In this Roadblock, one team member have to load a bicycle cart with six tanks of propane gas, pedal to the two addresses listed on their order slips, deliver three tanks to each address and then take a receipt from the homeowner's door as proof of delivery. Once their deliveries are complete, they have to hand the foreman their two order slips and two receipts to receive their next clue.

zhenyang: I will do it.

*at U-Turn mat*

hanwei: We choose not to U-Turn.
kelvin: Let's go to the Gas Service. Maybe we get to be delivery boys!

*at Paste 'Em detour*

timothy: Ok last one.
valerie: *scrubs paster like there is no tomorrow* DONE!
person: Here is your next clue.

pohchoon: WHAT?! ARE THEY ROBOTS?
yanzhi: And we are only half done!

celest: See isn't this fast?
felicia: Ya la. Now to deliver it.

*at roadblock*

zhenyang: This is super heavy. Here is the first address. *makes first delivery and takes receipt*

hanwei: I will do it.
kelvin: I am not complaining.

*at U-Turn mat*

timothy: We choose not to U-Turn.
valerie: Go to Bharatgas Colaba Gas Service. What a nice name.

celest: Are you the bridegroom?
bridegroom: Yes.
felicia: Here you go.
bridegroom: Here's your clue.
celest: OMG U-TURN! Let's hope no one U-Turn us.

pohchoon: Done!
person: Here's your clue.
yanzhi: Damn. U-Turn.

felicia: POH CHOON AND YAN ZHI ARE BEHIND US!
celest: RUN!!

pohchoon: OMG! THE GIRLS!

felicia: We choose to U-Turn Poh Choon and Yan Zhi.
celest: Sorry guys.

pohchoon: This is utter rubbish.
yanzhi: Let's hurry back.

zhenyang: Here are the 2 receipts.
person: Here's your clue.
jezabel: Travel by auto-rickshaw to the next Pit Stop, Bandra Fort. This fort built by the sea is the 8th Pit Stop in the race around the world. The last team to check in may be eliminated.
zhenyang: Let's GO!

celest: Ok I will do it.

*at the roadblock*

hanwei: Crap. I can't find this place.

valerie: Here you go. *makes first delivery, takes receipt and left original receipt*

*at Thread 'Em detour*

pohchoon: This sucks.
yanzhi: We will overtake them!

*at Bandra Fort*

Yi Xuan: Zhen Yang and Jezabel, you are team number 1!
zhenyang: YES!
jezabel: Good work darling. *kisses*
Yi Xuan: I have more good news. As the winners of this leg of the race, you have won a trip for 2 to St. Maarten from Travelocity.
zhenyang: Jezabel has been great! She is so understanding and that is what pushing us till now.
jezabel: Zhen Yang has been very nice to me and helped me alot in this race.

*at roadblock*

hanwei: Here you go. *makes second delivery*

valerie: This is the place. *makes second delivery, takes receipt and left original receipt*

celest: This is quite tiring. *makes first delivery and takes receipt*

*at Thread 'Em detour*

yanzhi: Done. Let's deliver it.
pohchoon: We are dead anyway.

*at Bharatgas Colaba Gas Service*

hanwei: WHAT?! I HAVE TO TAKE THE RECEIPT??

valerie: WHAT?! I HAVE TO COLLECT THE ORIGINAL RECEIPT

*at roadblock*

celest: This is so tiring. *makes second delivery and take receipt*

yanzhi: Let's go!

felicia: AHH PIT STOP!

hanwei: I need to take the receipts.

valerie: I forgot to take back the receipts.

Yi Xuan: Celest and Felicia, you are team number 2.
felicia: YES!
celest: We are glad that we are not last.

pohchoon: OMG! THERE IS STILL A CHANCE!
yanzhi: I will do the roadblock!

pohchoon: Crap.

kelvin: QUICK PIT STOP!

timothy: We have to go too!

yanzhi: Darn it.

*2 taxis coming in*

Yi Xuan: Han Wei and Kelvin, Timothy and Valerie, you are teams number 3 and 4 respectively.
hanwei: Not bad.
kelvin: Not bad indeed.
valerie: We could have done alot better this leg
timothy: Never mind baby, at least we are still in it.

*hours later*

Yi Xuan: Poh Choon and Yan Zhi, you are the last team to arrive. I am sorry to tell you that you have been eliminated from the race.
pohchoon: That's alright.
yanzhi: That way i can have more time signing autographs.
pohchoon: i am happy that i have joined this race with my best friend Yan Zhi
yanzhi: And i don't think i can survive this long without such an understanding friend like Poh Choon.
