Leg 3 Recap

Previously on the Amazing Race, 9 teams of 2 set out from Amsterdam, The Netherlands and flew approximately 4800km to the city of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. At Bingo, Si Aun and Xinfang worked together with Timothy and Valerie to keep up at the top of the pack. It was a mad race between the 2 all-female teams to the Pit Stop. Once again, Celest and Felicia lost by a few seconds, this time to Priscilla and See Lek. At the roadblock, Zhen Yang and Jian Hong's bad temper caused them to fall way back of the pack.In addition, the detour proved to challenging when Jian Hong and Siang Yong are unable to control the kids. As a result, they were the 3rd team to be eliminated from the race. 8 teams remain, who will be eliminated next?

Leg 4

Departing the Pit Stop 1st at 7.58 am, Priscilla and See Lek opened their clue.

priscilla: Walk along a marked path to nearby village and find Dakissaga, the tribal chief. Then, receive a clue and a complimentary gift from him.
seelek: A gift! I wonder what it is.
priscilla: I hope its a wand so i can fulfill my dream of being a fairy-godmother!

*1 min later*

celest: We aren't flying?
felicia: Dont think so.
celest: WHY??? I WANT TO GET OUT OF AFRICA!!!

*7 min later*

hanwei: Ok. No arguing this leg.
kelvin: We shall see.

*4 min later*

siaun: We are staying in Africa.
xinfang: I hope we get to go sightseeing!
siaun: let's wait for Timothy and Valerie, they seemed to be coming.

*1 min later*

valerie: DID YOU BATHE OR NOT? YOU SMELL LIKE A CROCODILE!
timothy: I sprayed crocodile cologne. Of course i smell like one.

*17 min later*

pohchoon: Let's go see Dakissaga!
yanzhi: Wait. They want my autograph.
pohchoon: *dragging Yan Zhi* Now now, let's not get eliminated now.

*12 min later*

jack: It's going to be hard catching up to the front of the pack.
ken: Just try not to get eliminated.

*38 min later*

zhenyang: Let's go dear.
jezabel: Alright darling.

*at Dakissaga's house*

celest: WE HAVE TO CATCH A CHICKEN?!?!
dakissaga: It's your gift.
felicia: You catch it. No way am i getting my hands on those thingys.
celest: What?!?! We are a team. Fine! Let's get eliminated.

*Priscilla and See Lek approaching*

celest: FINE I WILL CATCH THE DARN CHICKEN!
felicia: Take a taxi 160km to the town of Bouda Pelegtanga. As a sign of respect to the tribal chief, teams also have to keep their newly acquired gift with them at all times to successfully complete the leg. EEWW! YOU TAKE THE CHICKEN!
celest: Fine whatever.

Priscilla and See Lek arrived 2nd.
Han Wei and Kelvin arrived 3rd.
Si Aun and Xinfang arrived 4th.
Timothy and Valerie arrived 5th.
Poh Choon and Yan Zhi arrived 6th.
Jack and Ken arrived 7th.
Zhen Yang and Jezabel arrived 8th.

Soon all 8 teams are on the long journey to Bouda Pelegtanga.

*on the road*

siaun: OVERTAKE THEM! *indicating to Han Wei and Kelvin's taxi*
xinfang: GOGO!
hanwei: DONT LET THEM OVERTAKE!
kelvin: Relax. We wont get eliminated so easily.
hanwei: Oh shut up if you are not helping me.
kelvin: You want a fight?
*starts fighting again*

pohchoon: We just overtook the couple!
yanzhi: Good job! Now overtake that car and that lorry and EVERYTHING!
taxi-driver: Excuse me, I am not a stunt double. Don't risk my life.

timothy: This driver sux
valerie: *super high-pitched* YALA! DRIVE SO SLOW! SICKENING!

zhenyang: Oh my we caught up with the brothers!
jezabel: YES! I love you baby. *kisses*

*at Bouda Pelegtanga*

celest: Detour. Shake Your Pan or Shake Your Booty.
In Shake Your Pan, teams have to choose a gold mining pit and, using the local panning method, mine at least one ounce of gold. In Shake Your Booty, teams must learn a local traditional dance and perform it for a panel of local celebrities, but they also have to include their own creative dance moves. If the judges are impressed, they will receive their clue. However, if the judges aren't impressed, the team would incur a ten-minute penalty.

felicia: Let's dance.
celest: We must get first this time.

*goes off to practiice dance*

priscilla: Let's dance too.
seelek: I dunno how to dance well.
priscilla: Just try. Shake your butt abit and the judges will drool.

*goes off and practice dance*

siaun: OMG DANCING TIME!
xinfang: Save me.

*goes off and practice dance*

*Celest and Felicia on the dance floor*
judge: Sorry. It lacks creativity.
celest: WHAT? IT WAS SUPERB!
felicia: YOU BLIND ARH!
judge: Dont make me increase the penalty.
*Celest and Felicia stepped aside*

*Priscilla and See Lek on the dance floor*
priscilla: 来个地板动作 YO!
seelek: WOOO!!!
judge: Sorry. It's not satisfying enough.
*Priscilla and See Lek stepped aside*

hanwei: Let the master show you some moves.
kelvin: I can't wait.

*goes off and practice*

*Si Aun and Xinfang on the dance floor*
judge: Well done! Here's your next clue.
siaun: Great!
xinfang: Walk through the village and find the Pelegtanga Market. Caution: U-turn ahead.

*on the way to Pelegtanga Market*

siaun: Should we use the U-Turn?
xinfang: Let's not make enemies.
siaun: Alright.

*Celest and Felicia receives clue*

celest: Let's overtake them. I am sick of 2nd place.

*Priscilla and See Lek receives clue*

priscilla: Let's go!
seelek: How did they managed to pass without the penalty?

pohchoon: Shall we dance?
yanzhi: I am good at singing not dancing.
pohchoon: Ok. We go mine for gold.

valerie: We are finally here.
timothy: Idiot taxi driver.
valerie: Let's shake the dance floor!

*goes off and practice*

jack: Dancing time!
ken: Anything.

*goes off and practice*

jezabel: *squeals* DANCE!
zhenyang: Alright my sweetie pie. *kisses*

*goes off and practice*

*at the Shake Your Pan detour*

pohchoon: Why aren't we getting any gold?
yanzhi: Perhaps it's a scam!
pohchoon: Oh found one. Just dig deeper.

*at the Shake Your Booty detour*

*Han Wei and Kelvin on the dance floor*
judge: It's barely acceptable. Here's your clue.
kelvin: Haha what master, my foot.
hanwei: At least we got the clue.

*Timothy and Valerie on the dance floor*
judge: That was hideous. It almost looked like a monkey dancing.
*Timothy and Valerie stepped aside*

*Jack and Ken on the dance floor*
judge: You lacked confidence. Sorry.
*Jack and Ken stepped aside*

*Zhen Yang and Jezabel on the dance floor*
judge: That was the best coordination i ever seen in my 106 years of dancing career! Here;s your clue!
jezabel: Heard that darling?
zhenyang: Yes dear. *kisses again*

*at the U-Turn mat*
The U-turn is found at the end of a Detour. Teams can use the power of the U-turn to slow down another team by forcing them to backtrack and perform the other side of the Detour they did not previously complete. Teams can only use this power once in the Race, so they need to decide the best time to use it.

xinfang: We choose not to use the U-Turn.
siaun: Travel by taxi to the outskirts of Ouagadougou and find the Tampouy Goat Market.
xinfang: The girls are coming. Let's get out of here.

felicia: LET'S U-TURN THEM!
celest: *totally ignoring felicia* We choose not to U-Turn.
felicia: HEY!
celest: Shut up and hail a cab.

priscilla: We are not going to U-Turn.
seelek: Are we going to slaughter goats for the roadblock?
priscilla: EEWW! NO WAY!

*at the Shake Your Pan detour*

pohchoon: I am sweating so profusely.
yanzhi: At least we got the clue.

*at the U-Turn mat*

hanwei: I want to U-Turn Kelvin.
kelvin: And i want to U-Turn Han Wei.

zhenyang: Stop your rubbish and get off the mat.

*hanwei and kelvin received clue and did not use the U-Turn*

zhenyang: We choose not to U-Turn.
jezabel: WE ARE GOING TO YOUR MARKET!
zhenyang: -.-"

*at the Shake Your Booty detour*

*Timothy and Valerie receives clue*

timothy: Let's U-Turn them if not we are dead.
valerie: Go ahead. I want to stay in this!

*Jack and Ken receives clue*

jack: Oh shit! U-Turn!
ken: We have to beat them

*at the U-Turn mat*

pohchoon: We choose not to U-Turn.
yanzhi: It would be too risky because we don't know who's behind us.

*at Tampouy Goat Market*

siaun: ROADBLOCK!
In this Roadblock, one team member have to load a bicycle with an unwieldy amount of supplies including a potentially uncooperative goat. Then they have to ride the bike like traditional local delivery people to the marketplace, where each team must find a different specified vendor and deliver their supplies. Then, go back to their partner to receive their next clue.

xinfang: You go do it. It looks like a physical task. And you can lose weight.
siaun: HEY!

celest: I think i will do it because someone here can't cycle.
felicia: *glares at celest* Continue on and they are going to catch up.

seelek: I am tired. You do it?
priscilla: Ok.

*at the U-Turn mat*

*2 teams running towards the U-Turn mat*

timothy: We decide to use the U-Turn on Jack and Ken.
valerie: I am sorry but this is needed for us to stay in the race.

jack: Darn it. We have to go all the way back to do the mining.
ken: It's over for us.

*at the Tampouy Goat Market*

hanwei: I shall do it.
kelvin: I have no complains.

zhenyang: I do it ok?
jezabel: Sure thing darling. *kisses yet again*

*during the Roadblock*

siaun: I cant communicate with them and these roads looks so complicated.

celest: I think i am lost.

priscilla: Omg the tyre is flat. Crap!

*at the Shake Your Pan detour*

ken: Let's just hurry and get done with this.
jack: This stinks. Why did they U-Turn us?
ken: People are just worried about their elimination.
jack: We shall rebound and take revenge.

*at the Tampouy Goat Market*

yanzhi: It's a physical task and we are both tired.
pohchoon: You go do. I will take care of the chicken.

*during the Roadblock*

siaun: You are the vendor!! Yes!!
Vendor I: Here is your clue.

celest: Are you the guy?
Vendor II: Yes.

priscilla: Omg. Even Han Wei overtook me. Stupid tyre.

Han Wei: This place is worse than a labyrinth.

zhenyang: Are you the person?
Vendor VI: Sorry no.

yanzhi: I seriously wonder where am i going.

*at the Shake Your Pan detour*

jack: Ok done.
ken: Travel by taxi to the outskirts of Ouagadougou and find the Tampouy Goat Market.
jack: Let's thrash them!

*at Tampouy Goat Market*

siaun: XINFANG GET THE BAGS.
xinfang: Make your way to the Pit Stop, the Hotel de Ville. This city hall home to the mayor's office is the 4th Pit Stop in the race around the world. The last team to check in may be eliminated.

*seconds later*

celest: Felicia! Let's get going!
felicia: oh right.

*meanwhile*

valerie: Another physical task. I shall do it.
timothy: Good luck!

*during the Roadblock*

hanwei: Are you the person?
Vendor III: Yes.

priscilla: Here are your supplies.
Vendor IV: Thank you.

zhenyang: Where is that darn vendor??

yanzhi: This is indeed frustrating.

valerie: I must win them.

*at the Hotel de Ville*

*2 taxis pulls into the entrance*

*4 people running*

Yi Xuan: Si Aun and Xinfang, you are team number 1! As the winners of this leg of the race, you have won a pair of Yamaha motor scooters.
xinfang: Great! We didn't think we would come in first.
siaun: This feeling is just great.

*seconds later*
Yi Xuan: Celest and Felicia, you are team number 2. How do you feel after missing the first place by seconds 3 times?
felicia: This is indeed frustrating. We tried so hard.
celest: You mean I tried so hard?
felicia: Whatever, I have no strength to argue now.

*at the Tampouy Goat Market*

priscilla: See Lek! Hail the cab!

hanwei: Kelvin! Let's get going!

jack: Roadblock. I do it.
ken: Ok.

*during the Roadblock*

zhenyang: So you are the one.
Vendor V: Yes.

yanzhi: I think I am going round in circles.

valerie: This is so confusing.

*at the Tampouy Goat Market*

ken: *to timothy* Why did you U-Turn us?
timothy: We had to ensure our survival. This race is about winning, not making friends.
jezabel: You guys were U-Turned?
pohchoon: I didn't think that someone would use it so early.
jezabel: And you managed to catch up by so much?
ken: We are too strong. Timothy, watch out. *walks away*

zhenyang: DEAR, WE ARE LEAVING!
jezabel: Yes darling! *kisses and boards cab*

*at the Hotel de Ville*

Yi Xuan: Han Wei and Kelvin, Priscilla and See Lek, you are teams 3 and 4 respectively.
hanwei: Not bad.
priscilla: It was rather disappointing.
seelek: We thought we could maintain our lead.

*during the Roadblock*

valerie: You the person?
Vendor VI: Yes.
valerie: Thank god i found you.

yanzhi: Argh where is that idiotic guy?

jack: I am so lost.

*at the Tampouy Goat Market*

valerie: Let's go hubby!
timothy: Great!

*at the Hotel de Ville*

Yi Xuan: Zhen Yang and Jezabel, you are team number 5.
zhenyang: YES!
jezabel: I am happy.
Yi Xuan: How's this leg?
jezabel: I am very happy that we can work so well together.
zhenyang: And the animal (the goat) isn't stubborn.
Yi Xuan and jezabel: Haha.

*a few minutes later*

Yi Xuan: Timothy and Valerie, you are team number 6. Why did you use the U-Turn back there?
timothy: Well, it was quite stressful at the bottom and you see the last team just behind you.
valerie: Yup so we decided to slow them down.

*during the Roadblock*

Vendor VII: Thank you.

*1 team still struggling at the Roadblock while the other ran back to the partner*

*at the Hotel de Ville*

Yi Xuan: Poh Choon and Yan Zhi, you are team number 7.
pohchoon: THANK GOD WE ARE STILL IN IT.
yanzhi: That roadblock was murderous.

*14 min later*

Yi Xuan: Jack and Ken, you are the last team to arrive. I am sorry to tell you that you have been eliminated from the race.
jack: It's alright.
ken: At least we knew we would have stayed if not for the U-Turn.
jack: Timothy and Valerie has just placed a target on their back. They wont get far.
ken: But i know we have done our best that we could have possibly put in.
jack: Brothers fight. But we will get back together eventually.
