Leg 2 Recap

Previously on the Amazing Race, 10 teams of 2 set out from Shannon, Ireland and raced 970km to the lush greenlands of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Zhen Yang and Jezabel too a headstart by finishing the Detour swiftly and blazing through the Roadblock. Their good teamwork propelled them to first place. On the other hand, teams started to argue and fight. Han Wei and Kelvin and Celest and Felicia fell victim and dropped to the back of the pack. However, it was John and Kelvin who faltered so badly at the Roadblock and caused their elimination. 9 teams remain, who will be eliminated next?

Leg 3

Departing the pitstop first at 4.19 am, Zhen Yang and Jezabel opened the clue.

zhenyang: Fly 3,000 miles to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso in West Africa and find the city’s train station.
jezabel: It sure is cold out here.
zhenyang: Let me carry you to the cab.

*at the Amsterdam airport*

jezabel: Do you have tickets to Ouaga-whatever-the-name-is?
zhenyang: Ouagadougou.
ticket-lady: The earliest flight is 7.20am via Paris but it's fully booked. I will put you on the 8 am flight to Paris. At Paris, the flight will land in Ouagadougou at 4.35pm.
zhenyang: We'll take it.

*soon all 9 teams are on the same flight*

priscilla: Could you put us on stand-by for the 7.20am?
ticket-lady: I can try.
seelek: If we get this, we are as good as winning this leg.

*priscilla and seelek awaits the agent's answer*

ticket-agent: You are on the flight.
priscilla: YES!!
seelek: What luck. This is gonna be a breeze.

Priscilla and See Lek are on the 7.20am flight to Paris.

*meanwhile at Amsterdam airport*

siaun: Wonder where the 2 girls are. Didn't see them at all here.
timothy: Maybe they got a better flight?
zhenyang: Impossible. It's fully booked.
celest: Well, we never know.

The other 8 teams board the plane to Paris.

captain: There is a mechanical problem. The flight will be slightly delayed.

yanzhi: Shit. We might miss the flight.
pohchoon: Let's just pray and hope for the best.

*at Paris airport*

priscilla: The plane's departing soon. Where are the rest?
seelek: This is certainly uncomfortable.
priscilla: Aiya. Dont worry la. We have superpowers and we can win this!

*8 teams rushed into the plane after running across the airport*

priscilla: Speak of the devil.
seelek: sian -.-

All 9 teams are now on the same flight to Ouagadougou.

Priscilla and See Lek had a slight headstart by jumping into the only cab in sight.

priscilla: TO THE TRAIN STATION QUICK!
seelek: relax. we are ahead of the rest.

jianhong: WA! Sickening, form what alliance.. end up throwing us behind.
siangyong: I am so gonna yield them.

*at city's train station*

priscilla: Take a train into the middle of the African Savannah to Bingo.
seelek: Maybe we can play a game of Bingo there as a task!
priscilla: Not funny. Heh.
seelek: The train station only opens at 6am tomorrow morning.
priscilla: Crap there goes our lead.

Han Wei and Kelvin arrived 2nd.
Celest and Felicia arrived 3rd.
Jack and Ken arrived 4th.
Poh Choon and Yan Zhi arrived 5th.
Jian Hong and Siang Yong arrived 6th.
Zhen Yang and Jezabel arrived 7th.
Si Aun and Xinfang arrived 8th.
Timothy and Valerie arrived 9th.

*6 am*

All teams managed to get tickets on the same train to Bingo.

siaun: Let's work together to finish on top.
valerie: Sure!
xinfang: Time to win this!
timothy: CHIKU MONKEY!
siaun, xinfang, valerie: -.-"

all teams: ROADBLOCK!

In this Roadblock, one team member have to milk a camel and extract enough milk to fill a bowl to the designated line. Then they have to drink the milk to receive their next clue. If their camel ran dry, they have to wait for all other Teams to finish milking theirs before using one of their camels.

See Lek, Kelvin, Felicia, Jack, Poh Choon, Jian Hong, Zhen Yang, Si Aun and Timothy performed the milking for their teams.

timothy: Such things require patience and to remain calm. I told Si Aun that and hope we can finish quickly.
siaun: I am employing what Timothy told me.

felicia: *freaks out* STUPID CAMELS STOP KICKING MY BOWL OF MILK!
seelek: *screaming* CAN YOU SQUIRT SOME MILK OUT??

zhenyang: Animals again. I sure hope they dont turn out like the donkeys.

*20 min later*

siaun: *gulps down milk and gets clue*
xinfang: Great job! Lead four camels across the Savannah along a marked path to a group of waiting nomads.
timothy: *struggling to drink milk*
siaun: Let's wait for them.
timothy: *receives clue*
valerie: Thanks for waiting. Let's go now.

*10 minutes later*

pohchoon: Delicate touch is the key to success!
yanzhi: Stop spouting rubbish.

siaun: Okay, that's the wrong way. Don't let them overtake!!

*30 minutes later*

zhenyang: This is getting frustrating. I need to remilk and my camel is dry.
jianhong: Argh. This damn camel is super stingy.
seelek: *drinking milk* Urgh. It tasted nasty.

*1 minute later*

felicia: *drinking milk* This taste like some overdue yoghurt.
celest: Then let's hope you get diarrhea.
felicia: *glares at celest* Then we can go home and sleep and forget about this whole race.

*at nomads waiting spot*

timothy: Here is the camels.
siaun: The camels are here.
pohchoon: Take it.

valerie: Detour. Teach it or Learn it.
In Teach It, teams have to choose a local child who doesn’t speak any English and teach them the English words for ten common items. In Learn It, teams have to learn Möre, the primary African language used in this region. With a local school child as their teacher, Teams need to learn the Möre words for ten common items. Then, they have to take a test. They will only receive the clue after passing the test.

timothy: We learn it. Better to depend on ourselves than on them.
valerie: I can't believe you said that!! You finally want to depend on yourself!

*at the Learn It detour*

timothy: This is alien language to me.

siaun: This is hard to remember.

*at the Teach It detour*

pohchoon: *smiling* Come here let me teach you English.
yanzhi: Stop scaring them off.

*at the Roadblock*

*10 min later*

hanwei: You are finally done. You sure took your own sweet time.
kelvin: 6th is not that bad ok.

jack: YUCK! Never drink camel milk.
ken: You got it.

*at the nomad waiting spot*

celest: Detour. Let's learn. We learn 5 words each and we will be done in no time.
priscilla: *eavesdrop* Let's go learn 5 words each too.

*at the Roadblock*

*1 hour later*

zhenyang: I only have 1/2 bowl of milk. This is f*cking frustrating.

jianhong: Damn it. The darn camel spilled my milk. We are so dead.

*at the Learn It detour*

*Timothy and Valerie 1st attempt*
teacher: Sorry. You failed. Go back and learn again.

*Si Aun and Xinfang 1st attempt*
teacher: Sorry, You failed. Go back and learn again

celest: This is easy.
felcia: Let's go take the test.

priscilla: Ok let's try the test?
seelek: Alright!

*Celest and Felicia 1st attempt*
teacher: That is correct. Here is you next clue.

felicia: WOO!!
celest: Travel on foot to the pitstop at the outskirts of Bingo. This vast grasslands is the 3rd Pit Stop in the race around the world. The last team to check in may be eliminated.

*Priscilla and See Lek 1st attempt*
teacher: You passed. Here is your next clue.

priscilla: It's the pitstop!
seelek: OMG! OVERTAKE THEM

*2 teams mad dash to Pit Stop*

*Celest arrived 1st, See Lek arrived 2nd...*

Yi Xuan: Priscilla and See Lek, you are team number 1! Celest and Felicia, you are team number 2. Priscilla and See Lek, as the winners of this leg of the race, you have won a trip for two from Travelocity to the pink sand beaches at the Elbow Beach Resort on the island of Bermuda.
seelek: YAY! Good thing you outran Felicia.
priscilla: Those runs during P.E. is not for nothing you know.
celest: 2nd again and lost by a few seconds again.
felicia: This is irritating.

Meanwhile, a huge storm moved across the plains with thunder and high speed winds.

*at the Roadblock*

jezabel: Oh no. The wind is making things worse. JIAYOU DARLING!

siangyong: Jian Hong, don't lose to him!

zhenyang: *finish drining milk* Let's go dear!

jianhong: *gulps down milk* Run with the camels!

*at the nomad waiting spot*

hanwei: Let's do Learn It.
kelvin: Why?
hanwei: My ex-girlfriend was an African from here. She taught me the language. We will just ace it.

jack: Let's go teach.
ken: Anything.

*at the Learn It detour*

*Han Wei and Kelvin 1st attempt*
teacher: Here's your clue.

kelvin: No joke!
hanwei: Haha. Let's go!

Yi Xuan: Han Wei and Kelvin, you are team number 3. You gained alot of ground at the detour.
hanwei: It helps to have many girlfriends from many different countries.

*Timothy and Valerie 2nd attempt*
teacher: That is correct.

timothy: Quick to the Pit Stop!

*Si Aun and Xinfang 2nd attempt*
teacher: Here's your clue.

xinfang: Follow Timothy and Valerie!

*another wild dash to the Pit Stop*

*one team beat the other by seconds*

Yi Xuan: Si Aun and Xinfang, Timothy and Valerie, you are team number 4 and 5 respectively.
siaun: no more 7!
timothy: Great job darling.
valerie: You too hubby. *kisses*

*at the Teach It detour*

*Poh Choon and Yan Zhi 1st attempt*
teacher: You have taught well. Here's your next clue.

pohchoon: Teaching is hard.
yanzhi: We lost precious time there.

*Jack and Ken 1st attempt*
teacher: Sorry, you have to try again.

Yi Xuan: Poh Choon and Yan Zhi, you are team number 6.
pohchoon: Not bad.
yanzhi: If only we did the other detour.

*at the nomad waiting point*

*20 min later*

zhenyang: We do the learning?
jezabel: Ok.

jianhong: Let's try the other to try to beat them.
siangyong: Go.

*at the Teach It detour*

*Jack and Ken 2nd attempt*
teacher: Here is your clue.

jack: We wont get eliminated. They are still there.

Yi Xuan: Jack and Ken, you are team number 7. Fluctuating positions i see.
jack: Can't be helped. This leg is tiring.
ken: I am hungry and sleepy.

*at the detour*
teacher: This is you clue.

*1 team exited the schoolhouse and ran to the Pit Stop*

Yi Xuan: Zhen Yang and Jezabel, you are team number 8. Still in the race!
zhenyang: Thank god.
jezabel: Well done! *kisses*
zhenyang: I swear i hate animals.

*minutes later*

*Jian Hong and Siang Yong trudging in*

Yi Xuan: Jian Hong and Siang Yong, you are the last team to arrive.
jianhong: We figured.
Yi Xuan: I am sorry to tell you that you have been eliminated from the race.
jianhong: We thought knowing each other can bring us far. But it only brought more conflicts.
siangyong: But i am really grateful for such a good friend like Jian Hong.
jianhong: It alright. We had experienced what others do not have a chance.
siangyong: Being on the race and everything, it broadens my experiences. And i am happy i have done it with my good friend Jian Hong.
